I saw my fabulous Lymphoma expert on Wednesday. His name is Dr. Willem Van Heeckeren. A Wonderful human and a wonderful Hematologist. After reviewing the last three months and giving me a little lime squeeze, he concluded that I’m healthy as far as Lymphoma is concerned. He did notice that my white blood count is somewhat abnormal and a little low. It’s his opinion that it’s from the new biologic Actemra injectable I have been giving myself. I have completed 5 injections so far. A few days ago, I needed to call the rheumatologist to let him know that I had awful mouth sores. The absolute worst canker sores that you could imagine. He asked me to take a break from the injectable and start taking folic acid which I have done. I’m hoping that my WBC will recover from this little setback. Come Monday, I am going to see a hand surgeon in hopes that he may have an idea of what I can do to live with the pain in my digits and my wrist. Tuesday will take me to my Immunologist and will get another opinion on what he thinks might be going on. It AIN'T easy being a ZEBRA. We have to roll with the punches because we are so rare. Thankfully, my mouth sores are on the mend. I will update again after my appointments. May all of you be safe and healthy during this unchartered territory of COVID-19.
September is BLOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH and I am a LIME GREEN WARRIOR and SURVIVOR!!!!
